When reaching adult age, I was always astounded by the peacefulness of my Papaw Cyrus and in asking my mother was he always like this, she told me this piece of information. When Papaw was first a minister, he was with the Baptist and was a traveling Minister--on some of these trips, he took my mother (Olva) who was the oldest of the family to be--she at the time must have been around 3 yrs because she said she could remember these events. He would put her on his horse which she said seemed to be so big, riding in front of him through fields and streams--when they would come to a field of what she called 'pitty flayers' he would stop and take her hand and lower her to the ground and let her pick the' flayers ' she wanted and then she would put up her arm and hand and he would bring her back up to her place in front to ride -- very serene peacefull man Huh????
