Jerry, I talked to Gary and he has found out through DNA that he doesn't descend from this
David Duncan, but does from John S. Duncan and Mary Lynch. I am sending you a revised
report and you can replace this one after you and whatever you have that I don't. Boyce

Thanks Boyce. So according to Gary, he descends from John S but not David Duncan. That means this tree I posted is possibly incorrect in this relationship. That also brings into question the existence of this Mary Lynch. It's a real mixed bag of information found on the internet about this family. I sure don't know. There doesn't seem to be any firm dates for the wife of John S. It appears several people have confused two John S Duncans born in about the same place at about the same time. I appears children of the two John S Duncans have also been mixed and confused. What a thing to try and sort out.

Jerry, I just saw this posting this morning I wanted to try and help the best I could. So let me start by saying if you send me your email add to garylduncan@comcast.net I will give you a guest pass to my Ancestry.Com tree.

What you will find there is 10 yrs of researching my family lineage on both sides. In most cases I believe you will find information that is accurate to the best of my ability, and everything based on obtainable facts and those facts only. So as you are mostly interested in the Duncan's here is what I know !

1st, you have already seen what I mention on the YDNA. I thought too I descended from the David Duncan line.So based on the test results that all changed. The two men who have that 100% paper trail to David and I didn't match. One of them has Included the John Duncan we are talking about in his tree not sure on the other. The YDNA says this can't be, so if I was wrong on David I thought I was wrong on John.

I started looking for a new John that was around in the same time frame and I found one.The problem was he was looking more like David's son than the other. After a year of working on the evidence it was very clear I had the right John Duncan in my tree and he was not Davids son. Davids son John was bn around 1793-7 and died in 1867. He and a brother William they started up a steel forging business in Lawrence Co Tn. Same occupation as their father. The most famous Duncan researcher in the USA says those were his son's.

2nd, The people these families were marring also tell's the story. Davids family seemed to be connected to Gossetts and Thorton's. My Duncan's to Hinson's, Downey, Harder, Skeltons. Now let me say this I am not 100% positive that John Duncan's wife was a Lynch. But I do know that some of the other names that have been suggested as his wives have not worked out either.I have stayed with Lynch until I can prove otherwise. I know one thing there were many by the name Lynch in Hickman, Lewis and Perry Co to choose from.

3rd, What has the YDNA told me.That's a story for a phone call way to much more to email. Would enjoy taking to you anyway. 615-650-3640 Gary

To the best of my knowledge, all the Lynches in Hi,, Perry and Lewis descend from Aaron Lynch.

That's kinda of my thinking, the problem I have run into is connecting Mary to them.Sometimes you just have to go with what makes sense, and thats the feeling I have that Mary is some how connected to those Lynches.

If I remember 'Aaron had a couple of older sons who were not accounted for?
