We use to find these all around a small cave on Moccasin Creek, but that was a few years ago!! We looked for them
a lot back in the good old days.

Mark Garrett and Joyce Tuverson, I remember after the creeks flooding I would find them washed up in the roads.

I found them on 48 creek. Not Topsy area.

Patsy, We found them close to our one-room schoolhouse on Moccasin! I know that I have read that Indians used Natural Bridge
as a meeting place, and later it was used by the Wayne County officials until they had buildings.

Where is this cave on moccasin if you don't mind me asking?

The small cave was on the left just after you passed the Moccasin school. The school was closed in the 50's when most of the
neighborhood schools were closed. I was 8 or 9 years old when we had to start going to Waynesboro school. Most of the
neighbors really disliked the school closing, because we liked going to school with our relatives and neighbors. We had to ride a
bus for about an hour too.

If you drove down the road going toward the Buffalo River, the cave was just past the school, on the left. The powers that be,
decided several years after the school closed to straighten the road and the cave was covered up! I haven't lived down there since
1962, but I have been down to the Buffalo River several times. Those days in the little school and the small cave are good memories.

Where was the school located at on moccasin? Was it the Buffalo River end or the other end

Marc, I haven't been on the computer very much so I just found this. If you know Moccasin Creek Road very well, the school
is close to the old Joe Frazier place. If you come from Waynesboro, and came to a bridge, you would turn left. Joe Frazier's son
lives in the white house on your right (after you turn), and you would pass the old school next. You are going toward the Buffalo
River. I could go there with my eyes closed, but my directions aren't great!! LOL

I believe I know the place your talking about, they recently been doing road construction through there I
wonder if the cave being filled in was giving them problems

Marc, I haven't been on here in a while, and I haven't been back to my hometown since about 2006. That small cave holds
some good memories for me. Things have changed so much in the last 65 yrs. LOL, Joyce T.
