Family -

Today, Monday, January 13, 2014, I would like us to remember a favorite 'in-law' cousin, Bascom Oliver Berry. Bascom was the beloved husband of our Ruby & adored father of Dottie Ann & Brenda.

Bascom was born this day, January 13, 1917. We lost him on March 24, 1993. Bascom was always a fun guy to be around & truly loved our Cyrus family, & was very loved by all of us.

He is so very missed by Brenda & Tony Bond & their daughters, Erin & Susan. Also, Dottie & John & Jennifer & Jimmy. He missed meeting his two great-grandsons, Peyton & Bryce who belong to Jennifer & George & Alexander & Laura who belong to Jimmy & his wife, Stephanie.

Much love to all of our Aunt Dorothy's family as we remember Bascom.

Thank you so much Linda. You're so wonderful to remember our loved ones in such a sweet way. You are correct, Dad LOVED the Cyrus family. We always teased him about being in the center of the entrance to the Homeplace. We kidded that he was saving a his place in the food line, but really, I think his intent was to make certain he could see everyone as they arrived.
Love,
Brenda

I'm late with my reply, -------------but want all to know I could never forget the many
rides from Louisa to Columbus and from Columbus to Louisa back in 1954 the year I
graduated from high school and came to Columbus to find a job. Ruby and Bascom
were so generous and thoughtful to me and Nola to give us rides home (bypassing Greyhound Bus Lines.) With 3 womenfolk in the car, Bascom didn't get a word in edgewise very often, but he was our hero nonetheless!!!!!

Sweet memories from so long ago- thanks, Linda Jo, for prompting these memories.

    Ginny,
I don't remember hearing about these rides, but I'm glad you and Nola 'trained' Dad on how to manage dealing with so many womenfolk! Dottie was born that year and I came along 6 years later. I'm afraid he spent MANY years being the lone male in the household.
Thanks for sharing such wonderful memories.
