I am Gertrude & Jesse Carter's oldest grandchild, Pamela. She is 'Mamaw' to my husband, Al, and I. She came to live with us about a year ago and we enjoy the time we get to spend with her. Mamaw turned 94 wonderful years old this past December 1, 2012. She was blessed with a lovely birthday party from local cousins and enjoyed the day.

She shared her old family photo's on the large TV screen for everyone to help identify the names and remember the places and stories about when and where they were taken. She still tells everyone how it made her feel like a young kid again, to hear everyone singing happy birthday and amazingly blew out her candles with no hesitation at all.

On that very same evening she started to feel a bit under the weather and had to visit the emergency room where she was admitted over night. The doctors couldn't give us a reason for the way she was feeling, but felt it best she go home to recover and get plenty of rest.

Still feeling badly and having severe dizziness and delerium, her doctor sent her back into the hospital. This time the doctors ran every test possible and found problems they could treat. She spent eight days in the hospital and 5 days in a rehab facility.

Today, we were able to bring her back home and she is doing so much better and the doctors feel she will continue to do well for years to come. It was a long and scary couple of weeks, but it has passed and now we look forward to enjoying those years with her and look forward to more visits from her cousins and all other family members that wish to visit also.

Please keep us in your prayers and know she would love to hear from anyone wanting to visit.

God Bless,

Pamela

    Jeff,

You are very welcome. As you know it's hard to contact everyone, so I remembered you told me this is the best way. She is asking when all of you can come to visit again. I told her it would probably be when the weather gets a little nicer. She is looking forward to another visit and hopes more family will get in touch as well.

Pamela
