In thinking of Kortney's pageant in Lexington and the other grandkids and all the wonderful achievements they receive quite often in academics, music, sports. It reminds me of daddy and when they were all little. He would perform little skits with them, sing with them, announce the girls coming down the stair way here as he would say'LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, I PRESENT TO YOU MISS KORTNEY SHIRKEY, MISS KARRAH SHIRKEY OR MISS MICHAELA CYRUS'!!!! He would just applaud and whistle and hold up his lighter or a match, while the rest of us around gathered in the family room to see the show!!!! I can hear him every time Andrew plays the saxophone on the football field or composes and plays a song at home on the piano and even sings in the high school honors choir,Cole runs down the football field as lineman or various other positions and when he does so well on quick recall on the academic team, Michaela twirls her flag on the football field or sketches a beautiful picture in art, Karrah twirls her flag on the football field , pitches a fast ball in softball, plays her clarinet in the band .Kortney walks across another stage in a pageant or accomplishes another move in gymnastics, pitches a fast pitch softball and answers a question on quick recall academic team. and Aaron runs down the football field flying off the face of the earth with those long skinny legs with the ball or after a tackle!! At these very moments I can always hear my daddy say once again 'LADIES AND GENTLEMEN I PRESENT TO YOU MR. ANDREW CYRUS, MISS MICHAELA CYRUS, MR. COLE CYRUS, MISS KARRAH SHIRKEY, MISS KORTNEY SHIRKEY AND MR. AARON CYRUS ALL OF MY BABIES!!!!!!!!!! HIS legacy lives on in each and every one of them!!! We love and miss you daddy!!!

Oh, YES, Chris....I can hear him, too! You made me cry, but I am smiling at the same time....How lucky you all were to have him in your lives....and all of us, too. I miss him so much! Thanks for sharing your precious memories! Love you! Linda Jo
